About Parallel Atlas
Parallel Atlas is a fictional music and storytelling project imagining artists and scenes from real places rarely placed at the centre of global pop culture.
The stories are invented, but the project is a tribute to overlooked places and the extraordinary creativity that exists everywhere. Every entry is built like a record-label dossier: a sleeve, a story, a tracklist, a coordinate on the map.
Some tapes are partial, some pressings are local, some bands disappeared after a single release. None of them are real — but each one could almost have been. The atlas reads like a half-remembered crate of cassettes pulled from someone’s attic in a town you’ve never been to.
The project began with four entries — Dust Division in Quetta, Klan Sakhalin in the Russian Far East, The Skabards in Svalbard, and The Robbies on the Liberian coast — and is still expanding.
